This message from the National Weather Service in Great Falls was forwarded by Paul Spengler, Lewis and Clark County DES Coordinator earlier today. The Spokane and North Idaho areas have received between 20 and 30 inches of snow by mid afternoon, with highway traffic pretty much impossible.

All,

I just though I would put out a quick email on what is expected the next
few days:

Winter system working east from the Pacific Coast today and will start
to impact the region later tonight, mainly across the northwestern
portions of forecast area, which includes the Rocky Mountain Front and
areas nearby.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for that area, for more
information please see the link here

Snow will spread across the region Thursday into Friday as the system
moves through the state. Possible winter weather advisories will be
needed over much if not all of Central Montana and Southwestern Montana
as 2-4 inches of snowfall will be likely, blowing snow may cause
additional transportation issues across the region. For more information
please see the Hazardous Weather Outlook

If you wish to see hi / low temps, snow amounts for any given 6 hour
period, or anything else we generate use this display from the National
Digital Forecast Database

Much colder will create dangerously cold temperatures again for late
this week and the weekend.

As always if you have any questions, feel free to give the office a call.

Ben
